Artist Statement

My practice explores the duality of pain and joy as two sides of the same coin. I use playfulness to explore difficult topics like happiness, safety, and family responsibility. Drawing on my African identity, friendships, and pop culture references, I seek to build community through storytelling. This helps create a space for healing, introspection, and curiosity.

I start all my projects with a hand-drawn sketch and then experiment with different media. This ranges from screen printing and scanned collages to oil pastels and acrylic paints, and I look to make something my younger self would see as awesome. I move these drawings and paintings into the digital world using tools like Photoshop, Blender, Maya, and Three.js. I try to keep these digital projects feeling physical. In a world where everything often feels flat, this way of working adds texture and feeling to pixels.

As I have grown as an artist, I have learnt to focus on the creative processes and the joy it brings while testing other media new to me. I want my work to serve as a mirror of who we are and how we can work together to become better versions of ourselves. In the end, we will always find community even in difficult times. I want to remind viewers that these issues must not be carried alone.
